The Jill of All Trades and Mistresses of None

When i was seventeen my English Teacher said ' Jasmine don't be a Jack of All Trades Master of None. Which i still think i am ..I have a gift , which is to draw , i love to draw , i wish i can work magic on a paper but sadly i cant. I am looking forward to learn everything starting from basic.

I also wish to learn to sew , wearing clothes that i made sounds pretty awesome too me. I envy those who has so much talent to make creative DIY pieces and clothes.
I am in between size 12-14 , YES BELIEVE IT.

In Malaysia most of the clothes , design are meant size S - M , most of the stuff i like does not come in my size. Sometimes its so frustrated to walk in a store to see clothes that look like as if they were made for anorexic victims, no offends to anyone who is naturally petite and slim.

And labels or store from Overseas like Forever 21 , Miss Selfridge and Dorothy Perkins does have my size but to be honest i find most of the stuff pretty pricey for me.

Don't even make me start with shoes , its such a pain to hunt for the perfect shoe which come in my size.
So tell me girls , if you have the time and money what would u wish u can learn?

Here is my humble list
  • Sewing - I want to make my own dresses
  • Acoustic Guitar - For my passion for music
  • Baking - Make cakes , cupcakes , muffins and bread , the thought itself made me smile
  • French - I always find the language very sexy :)
  • Photography - Would love to know everything about manual and film cameras

I am saving up for this baby
    , Olympus EPL-1

Girls sorry for my lack of time spend with my blog, will drop by to say Hi to everyone soon.
Got to rush out for my bestie's birthday dinner
    Have a happy Sunday everyone
Can't wait to hear from you

LOve the effect of your pictures and your list is pretty like mine. I always want to know more and more about something in particular, and photography is one of these subjects.

The camera is amazing, btw ♥

But your pictures are so beautiful that I think you know more about photography than you give yourself credit!
There are many things I would like to learn, like to play the piano, to sing and to speak French!

there so many things I would love to learn and sewing is one of them. Also I would like to learn to speak French and dance ballet and painting....I could go on and on.

I know what you mean, I have many skills too but they are far from talented. I've had opportunities, my mom is a tailor but shes far away now, i learnt French for 3 yearns and a hear of Japanese but it's getting rusty as I'm painfully shy to use them. Sigh, but you know what? It's not too late^^ Let's start with baby steps, one skill at a time.

btw, your photography skills are far from the ordinary ^^ you cant learn talent <3

Oh my God, you read my thoughts, aren't you?? Well, I gave up the acoustic guitar wish because I'm simply bad at learning instruments, BUT I want to learn how to sew and how to bake too! And I totally want to learn French after my bachelor studies, it's the most beautiful language on earth :)

I would love to learn DIY things too, but I am so bad at that kind of stuff it's ridiculous.
It seems like you would be a great photographer :D

If you enjoy learning your trades, that's enough. I never liked that quote anyway! ;) Seems like clothes never fit anyone anywhere. Cute picture, have a great day! :)

I wish I could travel if I had the money. :/

I want to continue with French! I've studied it for 4 years so far. :)

I would love to do all the things on your list, but mainly I want to bake. I did some baking last summer and want to open a cupcake bakery eventually. I wish I could take some baking classes!

baking is 100 times easier than sewing. i understand ur frustration about small sizes in stores. they make me boil as well. i wear L size and its impossible to find a good fit for a reasonable price!

I love cooking and photography, and would looove to improve my skills in both! I'm a pretty good cook, but I always like to learn how to cook new things! ;)

Thank you dear!
Yes, I'm going to begin my Professional Make Up School & I want a career but who knows, maybe in Paris I will have some opportunities to have a go at being a model, we'll see =)

Sorry they don't have more sizes for you to choose from. It's always frustrating to find things that fit well. Anyway, if I had the money to afford it, I would definately take vocal lessons and try my hand at writing songs. I would also take a painting class and take up art as a serious hobby.

hi Jasmine. been missing you and your posts lately. :D wow an Olympus camera is awesome. is that digital or SLR? you look great as always dear. :D

Renee said...

I also want to learn how to make pretty manual photos!!

Hi Jasmine, I'm about the same clothing size as you, and I get alot of my stuff from Charity shops now, you should maybe try that? I agree that Miss Selfridge, Topshop etc are too expensive, I guess we're lucky over in the UK to have Primark and Peacocks etc...

If I had all the time in the world I would love to learn to play the piano, horse ride, play badminton (properly), learn a language and although I know the basic's of sewing I'm not very good with patterns so I'd like to learn a bit more about that.

I'd also love to be better with a camera, and thats number one on my list at the moment, I am actually looking into photography classes now.

By the way, I love the little stars that keep following my arrow around, they are so cute!

Lastly, you look beautiful in that picture xxx

I am in the process of learning more about photography which has always been a passion of mine!

There is NOTHING wrong with being a Jack of All Trades!! I can do a little of all sorts of crafts (I sound like a granny when I say it, but crochet and knitting are included) and all it takes is a little focus on the one! Why rid yourself of so much useful knowledge, just to know a little more of another. It's like eating only your favourite food, forever. It'll end up bad eventually (okay, bad example but still)
I can't wait to see your sewing (because you must do some! Using patterns to make makeup bags is a pretty good start, and skirts are very simple!)

Beautiful picture, sweets!

I'd love to learn to play guitar (or any instrument for that matter), but I just don't seem to have the patience... it's frustrating; the talent could be there, but I'm just too lazy! This goes with many things...

Hope the birthday dinner was fun :) x

Well i think that there's a problem about clothes,, most of them are tought for anorexic ones.. i have small breast and rather big hips and gosh it is so hard to find something flattering!! it gets on my nerves.. i wish I could sew too

Hi Jasmine! I hope this Monday finds you well. I have been so stinking busy lately it's insane. I think my list would be very close to yours. I used to sew, and I used to draw more, and I play a little guitar but I would love to take time and do all these things better. I love this post...and I know how you feel. I am the same size and find that it can be a little frustrating at times. You always look beautiful - your outfits are always lovely and you are so pretty:)

I self taught myself how to sew, It’s pretty easy once you get the hang of it, just work on it and have lots of patience. Know that very thing won’t come out perfect so just practice, practice, practice and practice some more 8D
